One of the most exciting things coming to MagicCon: Las Vegas is the nerdy, queer, fantastic show Dungeons and Drag Queens where three vibrant adventurers, led by Dungeon Master and comedian, Paul Curry, go on an epic D&D quest to see if they can claim victory, or die a shameful death. The best thing about it? You, yes YOU, might even participate and help determine how the group will navigate and survive obstacles, or fail miserably.
With two different show times featured at the Judy Bayley Theatre on the UNLV campus, this is an adventure is one you won’t want to miss!
We got a chance to speak with Paul about his experience with Dungeons and Drag Queens, and he shared with us what he was most excited about. Check out our interview below!
Tell us about yourself!
I am Dungeon Master Paul Curry, 1/5 of the cast of Dungeons and Drag Queens. I'm a Seattle comedian who spends all his time working on a live-play DnD show touring the country called Dungeons and Drag Queens.
How did you get into D&D?
I was first introduced to Dungeons and Dragons about six years ago in college. It was my rock during the events of 2020, and I haven't been able to stop playing since!
How did you create the Dungeons and Drag Queens team?
I founded Dungeons and Drag Queens LIVE in Seattle about three years ago. The idea came as an offshoot of a comedians-only DnD live-play show I was running out of a dive bar Thai restaurant, along with my friends in the Seattle drag community.
Being a part of MagicCon: Las Vegas must be exciting! Has anyone on the team played Magic: The Gathering before?
Yes! In fact, Sherry Poppins played in high school, and Little Piece got into it recently and has been loving Commander!
All of us at Dungeons and Drag Queens are honored to bring our brand of over-the-top storytelling and improv adventure to MagicCon: Las Vegas!
Can you tell us a little about each of the stars in the show?
Little Piece is an up-and-coming drag star in the New York-Philly area. She brings a ferocious energy to the stage and plays a not-so-pious priest by the name of Little Priest. Once she is in a session, she is nigh uncontrollable. I am incredibly nervous to have her on the show.
Sherry Poppins is a staple of the New York drag scene and has toured with Dungeons and Drag Queens all around the East Coast in Chicago, Philly, and New York. She plays a righteous rogue by the name of Sherry the Pauper and isn't afraid to speak her mind to a big bad while she picks their pockets.
Miss Ma'amshe is an NYC drag superstar, going viral several times on social media and generally slaying wherever she deigns. She plays She'mam the Babariam, a ruthless but kind barbarian that will fix your hair before pummeling you into the ground.

For someone who’s never been to a show before, what can they expect, and how do they participate?
It's a simplified stage version of the tabletop fantasy role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons. For those unfamiliar, imagine an improv, fantasy roleplay, collaborative storytelling, randomly generated fun fest that has to be seen to be believed. I am the Dungeon Master, who sets up the world and the story, while the drag queens are the players, questing and fighting in a never-before-seen fantasy setting based on Duskmorn Manor. In addition, our musician Carson Cutter provides a live improvised score during the show, and YOU, the audience, get to play a role as well. Every action the queens take in this game is mediated by the roll of a massive 20-sided die, and there is no telling where the adventure will go in each and every show.

What’s your favorite part of this show?
My favorite part of the show is having to think on my feet as the queens run amok through the plot I've carefully crafted for each show. I may seem frustrated on stage, but nothing brings me more joy than the queens tearing open a plot hole and diving right in. What can I say? Guilty as charged! Also, Duskmourn provides the perfect '80s horror camp house/plane setting for the Queens to run absolutely wild, so whether you are into Drag, Dungeons and Dragons, or nerd sh*t in general, Dungeons and Drag Queens is going to blow your mind."
That’s right. This Dungeons and Drag Queens: MagicCon Edition will be set in Duskmourn with characters trapped within the walls of the House and looking to survive all the terror and entities that are looking to destroy them. Will they escape the clutches of the House and Valgavoth? Join us and find out!
