MagicCon: Chicago
The Trevor Project
Our goal at each MagicCon event is to work closely with charity partners to help make the lives of others better. We are delighted to share that at MagicCon: Chicago, we are once again working with our longtime partner, The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people, to help raise funds to support their life-saving efforts.
Since 2020, the partnership between Wizards of the Coast and The Trevor Project has raised nearly $1.5M. Last year, the partnership raised more than $130,000 and the organization has received more than $50,000 from MagicCon alone.
"The Trevor Project's life-saving work to end suicide among LGBTQ+ young people has never been more critical. Our research found that 39% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year -- including 46% of transgender and nonbinary young people. The gaming community is home to many LGBTQ+ youth, and MagicCon's support signals to LGBTQ+ young people everywhere that they are welcomed and accepted in this space. MagicCon's continued partnership has increased our ability to support more LGBTQ+ young people than ever before through our free, 24/7 crisis intervention services, and has helped us strengthen our efforts to educate and advocate for LGBTQ+ young people across the country," said Moe Doyle (they/them), Corporate Partnerships Manager at The Trevor Project.
