Some of the biggest names at MagicCon: Las Vegas!
One of our favorite things about MagicCon is that we get to hang out with our friends, sling cards with them, and share some laughs. And that’s what Magic is about – The Gathering! What better way to celebrate the people that make our community than by featuring them at the biggest Magic event of the year, MagicCon: Las Vegas! Check out some of our special guests below to see what they’ve got going on and be sure to make room for them on your schedule!

Mark Rosewater
One of the most recognizable faces at Magic, Mark “MaRo” Rosewater has seen a few MagicCons and is widely regarded as one of the most influential designers at Wizards, responsible for parts of, or led over 100 different sets. Over the years, he’s written numerous posts on his blog, “Blogatog”, and has shared nearly 1200 stories on his Drive to Work Podcast. What would MagicCon be without him?
At MagicCon: Las Vegas, he’ll be participating in a bunch of exciting panels and events – so don’t miss out! MaRo said, "For MagicCon: Las Vegas, I'm looking forward to being on a number of panels, including a talk about the twenty worst mechanics of all time, doing signings, and hosting the Saturday and Sunday Unknown Events. In addition to that, I'm participating in something, as yet unannounced, that I've been asking to do for two years."
How exciting! If you want to meet Mark Rosewater and play in the Unknown events on Saturday and Sunday, head to the links below.
Melissa DeTora
Former pro player turned Magic: The Gathering designer, Melissa has had a profound impact on the sets we know and love. From Kaladesh, to Kaldheim, and from The Brother’s War, to the Bloomburrow Commander decks, she’s been involved in numerous sets and every time she attends a MagicCon, everyone wins! At MagicCon: Las Vegas, Melissa can be found playing games with fans, but that’s not all. She said, “I'll be spending most of my time in the Black Lotus Lounge, chatting and playing games with Black Lotus VIPs and running our Unknown Planechase event. When I'm not there, I'll be walking the convention floor and hanging out, so feel free to stop by and say hi!”
Don’t be shy! Melissa’s one of the nicest people you’ll meet at MagicCon, except maybe when you’re sitting across from her at a Pro Tour. Click the link below to check out the ticketed play event she’s running!
Josh Lee Kwai & Jimmy Wong
Like Minsc and Boo, or Rin and Seri, Josh Lee Kwai and Jimmy Wong might just be Magic’s greatest dynamic duo. The team of The Command Zone podcast, which started in 2014, features the amazing production quality, authority, and the charisma and comedy of these content creators whose YouTube videos make it the most popular Magic gameplay channel.
What they are most known for at MagicCon is their version of Game Knights brought to you LIVE on the Mana Stage. If you haven’t heard or watched an episode of the Command Zone, you’re in for a treat. There will be big plays, and surprise celebrity guests, so grab a seat and watch one of the most loved parts of MagicCon.
Jimmy was excited to share his thoughts: “MagicCons are special to me because it's the single best opportunity to meet so many fellow fans of the game and really connect in a deeper and meaningful way. Each convention brings so many memorable moments and days filled with excitement and great energy.”
Aside from Game Knights Live, Jimmy and Josh can be found all around MagicCon, doing meet and greets, as well as playing games with fans.
Olivia Gobert-Hicks
When she’s not metalsmithing, Olivia Gobert-Hicks is spinning lots of plates as a cosplayer, engraver, co-host of Commander at Home and Elder Dragon Hijinks, and is on the Commander Rules Committee.
At this MagicCon, Olivia can be found on a Community panel with other featured guests from the Commander RC to talk about the history of Commander, and what’s to come! If you love Commander as much as we do, this is a panel worth joining and listening to.
If you can’t make the panel though, you also have a opportunity to meet Olivia during her meet and greet as well!

PowrDragn
PowrDragn has been playing Magic for over 20 years and loves diving into the game. His deep knowledge of both tabletop and Arena has served his community well, and the content is so easily digestible by players at all levels.
One of his most popular videos with nearly thirty thousand views is the MTG Arena Beginner Guide that provides Tips and Tricks for new Magic: The Gathering Players. So, if you’re new to the game, not to worry! His video clearly explains many of the intricacies of Arena like how to start and grind for more gold and build a collection.
He shared this about MagicCon: “It's one of the few places where most of the top creators, vendors, personalities, etc., in the community are all in the same place. There's MTG related stuff going on all day for 3 days. And even some the night before and the night after. If you're into the game, it's a great place to be. I'll be doing several meet & greet events. I'll be roaming around stamping and signing things, doing giveaways, and generally being accessible. I'll also be spending time as one of the personalities in the Unknown Event for the VIPs.”
So stay tuned for his schedule, but in the meantime, check out his informative and entertaining YouTube channel.
